What I’m watching: American Gods

So I should be watching House of Cards but that is for next week because I’m watching American Gods since my neighbour, Chris Obi, is in it as Anubis. If you don’t know him, check him out, he’s super cool. I’m on the first couple of episodes, and so far I’m loving it.

What I’m listening to: Kitty on the Road – Julia Star

I met this chick at a new years party a few years ago and we became Facebook friends as you do when you’re drunk. Then she started pursuing her musical dreams.

So, ladies and gentleman, with no further ado, I present Kitty on the Road.

Friday roundup

What I’m listening to: Despacito – Luis Fonsi ft Daddy Yankee.

Me encanta, me encanta! I know it’s everywhere. No I don’t care. And you’re all lying if you don’t sing along when Daddy Yankee says ‘DY’. SUBE SUBE SUBE SUBE

No me gusta the Justin Bieber version. I mean. No. And he can’t even sing it. Here is the proof. *sigh* Just as I was begining to like him.

What I’m watching: The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

I know this season got some shit but I genuinely liked it. Kimmy finds feminism, Jacquline finds power and freedom in her own skills despite a smooshed hot husband. But Titus Andromedon. He is Queen of the show. ❤

Pasion de Gavilanes

In a bid to actually learn Spanish I started to watch this with my flatmate. So, I haven’t learnt any Spanish from it but omg. The over-the-top story lines and the hot men. I’m in heaven.

What I’m doing: Bailar!

In exchange for one hour of English, one of my new friends will give me one hour of dance. Sadly it will be my last since I’m leaving tomorrow but it’s a great confidence boost since it definitely pushes me outside my comfort zone (and I’m such a stubborn bitch about it) plus it’s a good workout.

How to: create an inspiration board

I usually get carried away in my own thoughts and things often get muddled. My friend was moving country and gave me her own pin board. So, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to create an inspiration board since I’ve always wanted to do one.

It was pretty old and boring so I got some paint.

Once it was done, I found pictures I want, plus already had pictures saved. I decided I would have different sections dedicated to different themes. One corner would be art, the other fashion. The centre was a photo I took of Portobello Market which is near where I live in London and has kind of been the centre of my universe. The other corner would be inspirational women (I included Xena and Buffy) and one of the corners is empty, which I’m going to dedicate to current/future projects.

Even though it’s not finished, that’s not the point. I want this board to be organic and it grows as I grow.

This project really didn’t take very long and it’s super easy pick-me-up motivational activity.

I am not my 2:2

So, full disclaimer: I got a 2:2 for my degree in History and Politics. I know. Shock. Horror. How can I even begin to face the world? Boo hoo.

It’s all bullshit anyway. I literally had no idea what I was doing with my life, suffering from severe social anxiety, and just went to university too soon because the tuition fees were going up thanks to the Torries and Lib Dems.  So I couldn’t even take a break to have the mental breakdown that was coming.

Since then, I have worked in numerous jobs but this past year I have taught adults, and children in some of the best schools in Colombia. So, I think why not tutor while I’m in London. I send a few applications to different places. And then I get this.

So, apparently, we still live in a world where people are so stuck in their own box that the grade for my degree outweighs my experience.

Your degree and your grades do not define who you are and your abilities.  What defines you are your actions. What defines if you can do the job is your experience. And I am not less of a human for my 2:2.

The world is a box and haters gonna hate.
